Keeping the “pork” coming home to Alaska – a good idea or just plain selfishness?
Keeping our congresspersons in office for thirty years – a good idea or just fostering more power hungry, pompous, pretentious, prevaricating, unprincipled profligates?
Alaska now has the reputation of being the richest state in the union as far as per capita income goes – but is this true?
Although we get our yearly dividends as an owner state – is this true?
Why then do we still have some of the largest per capita homeless population? the most rapes, incest, and drug use per capita ? – Is this good?
I, for one don’t think so.
Why do we allow the most corrupt Supreme Court to tell us that corporations are people?
Think people ! Don’t allow the lies to obfuscate your minds !!
At my age, I won’t be seeing the destruction of our democratic system, or feeling the loss of our freedoms, one-by-one. But you, who have children and grandchildren, wake up, please. .. or you might find yourself living in a Fascist State before you know it !!

For the sake of clarity, if you had taxable income of $1,000,000.00 or more, why would you resent the IRS from taking 1% of it ($10,000.00) leaving you with $990,000.00.
You would have to be the greediest pig in the world to not be willing to give up $10,000.00 so that the poorest of your fellow citizens could have food to put on their tables or have affordable health care.

Social Security is not bankrupt. It could be enhanced if high income earners would have to continue paying into it after they have reached the magic number of $106,800. Raise the payroll tax cap for wealthy Americans to $200,000 and stop borrowing money from the Social Security Trust Fund.

The so-called pundits are talking about reforming Medicare by taking away benefits from needy people. If they really want to preserve Medicare, all they would have to do is institute Medicare for all, on a single payer system (as is done with the VA) this would reduce the annual costs of Medicare from $12,000 for each family to $6,000. (More income to Medicare and less doctor bills with a healthier population)

If Republicans would quit repeatedly blocking efforts to create jobs and rebuild our infrastructure, there would be more money circulating and the economy would boom. But Republicans are so bent on getting rid of Obama, they don't care if they are ruining the country. With all the conservative, activist judges in the Judicial system, I predict that the United States will be a Fascist state within five years.

I guess many people don’t understand this  but,  the first mandate in Medicare was forced onto the public via George W. Bush’s love fest with the insurance companies, when  they made Medicare recipients start paying insurance to get into the Medicare Prescription drug plans, whether they were taking medicines or not.  How’s that for a Republican Mandate?
I still wonder why we have to pay insurance company premiums in order to buy  needed medications.

North Dakota/ Alaska-- Random thoughts

The people of North Dakota will soon regret the oil fracking boom when they can no longer drink the water or wash themselves and their clothes in it. Their state will be uninhabitable eventually.

If the people who live in the so called Pebble Mine proposed area do not stop that mine from operating, they too will emulate North Dakota and they won't have any fish to eat
and/or sell either.

How can the very people who have government jobs (Senators, Representatives), stand in front of us and say that the government can't create jobs??

Anchorage Assembly

Kudos to the Anchorage Assembly for wasting time and energy and exhibiting their own stupidity for keeping people from sitting on the downtown sidewalks, when they should be looking at ways to help the homeless from having to sit on those same sidewalks.

Random thoughts

No matter what she did, I believe that the Mississippi judge who viciously beat his 16 year old daghter with a leather belt, ought to be kicked off the bench and then be given the same treatment he gave to her.

All I know is that Murky is as murky as her dad. She is a bona fide liar. She voted against teachers and First responders and now she has voted against
buying steel from Americans for American infrastructure. She is just a slimy sneak who kisses the Indians behinds so that they don't realize what a skenk she is
and they keep voting for her. The American populace is so stupid and gullible that I really fear for this country.

Anita Hill really did tell the truth but the "old boys network" did her in and now the truth about Thomas has come out and there is no way to get him off the Supremes.

I am still so disappointed in Obama. I had such high hopes for him until on his first week in office he refused to prosecute the War Criminals. I just wish he would get off his high intellectual butt and start helping the people he professes to want to help. He could make a start by visiting all the "Occupiers" and denouncing the banking criminals but since most of them are in his cabinet, I guess he won't do that.

I cannot get excited about any of the so called health care bills being bandied about now. There will be no changes until after the next election and if we do not elect a majority of democrats and get rid of those idiot teabag representatives then you can kiss your butt goodbye. The states that elected these Repub governors, and what they are doing to Women's rights are just disgraceful and are taking this country back to the middle ages.

I for one, would not like to live here if they do away with Roe vs Wade. because that will be the end of our so-called democracy. Our Supreme Court is a travesty of justice and our only hope is that Roberts, Scalia and Thomas all die, because that is the only way to get rid of them no matter what they do. Thomas is the worst and no matter what corruption he fosters, he cannot be removed.
I am glad I will not be around to see the end of our country.

"Entitlements"

According to Webster's Unabridged Dictionary, an "entitlement" is the right to receive something. It is my contention that Medicare and Social Security are not entitlements because you cannot receive them until you have paid for them. You are not entitled to receive Social Security until you have paid into the program, in order to recive the benefits. It may be just semantics but "entitlement" seems to be connoted as "welfare", which it is definitely NOT.

Social Security is not bankrupt, after all it is a Trust Fund that many President's sticky fingers have latched onto. However Social Security can be enhanced if high income earners were made to continue paying into the fund after they have reached the magic number of $106,800. For people to receive Medicare, they have to make a monthly payment (taken out of their SS check) of anywhere from $96.40 to $369.10; and that payment goes up every year depending on the annual cost-of-living. So that is not an entitlement, but is a paid for benefit.

Do you want your Social Security benefit income cut? If not, remember that "elections have consequences". If you vote for dogs, you will get up with fleas. Call your congress persons and the White House and tell them to stop fooling around with your income. Leave Social Security and Medicare out of the mix, and make the very rich pay their fair share.
